Dictation for customer support

Support agents use Utter to speak ticket replies, internal notes and chat messages, and Utter types them into the help desk in the tone set for that app, with snippets for the answers they give every day.

Examples

What you say, and what Utter types

Hold the key, talk the way you talk, let go. These are the kinds of takes that come up every day.

Say “reset steps” or “refund policy” and Utter types the text you saved for it.

A tone for each app

Polite and complete in the help desk, short in Slack. You set how much each style tidies.

Custom words

Product names, plan names and feature names come out spelled right.

Raw and cleaned text side by side

Check exactly what changed before you send a reply.

Time saved

How much time does it save?

At 1,200 words a day of ticket replies and notes, typing at 40 words a minute and speaking at 150, dictation saves about 22 minutes a day, or about 88 hours a year. Those numbers are assumptions. Change them below.

Saved a week1.8 h
Saved a year88 h
Worth a year$2,200
Work days to earn back $496

Saved time = words ÷ typing speed − words ÷ speaking speed. We count 5 working days a week and 48 weeks a year, and round to two figures. The defaults are assumptions, not measurements: put in your own. Time spent thinking about what to write stays the same either way.

FAQ

Questions

Does Utter work in my help desk?

Utter types wherever your cursor is, so it works in help desks that run in the browser and in desktop apps.

Does customer information leave my computer?

Your voice and the text you dictate stay on your computer. Speech recognition and cleanup both run there. Text goes to a provider only if you give a style your own API key.

Will it change the tone of my reply?

Only as much as you tell it to. Each app gets a style where you set the tone and how much Utter tidies, and every take shows which words changed.

How much faster is a reply by voice?

If you type at 40 words a minute and speak at 150, a 120-word reply takes 3 minutes to type and under a minute to say. Those speeds are assumptions: put your own into the calculator on this page.
